About us...
Human Edge is a software development and services company located in South Melbourne, Victoria. Since 1983 we have developed and evolved a number of software products for schools, both Primary and Secondary. Schools now use SAS2000 for administration, FirstClass for timetabling, Pay2k for payroll, Reporter Pro for student reporting and A+ for electronic roll marking.
Our support and training team do just that. They provided day-to-day telephone support to over 1,000 schools using our products, along with an on-going training program. Support is also provided by remote computer access, e-mail and fax, as well as one-to-one consultancies in our office or at the school.
About the role...
The software support position is a new and exciting position for someone to provide an effective and important contribution to our customers. The main duties in this new role are:

Telephone and e-mail support to assist, diagnose and resolve difficulties with SAS or Reporter Pro usage. Both programs use our SQL database. |

Telephone and e-mail support to help with educational administration or student reporting issues and procedures. |
 |
Record keeping and maintenance of a support log of all support requests and their outcomes into an existing in house application. |
 |
Analysis and collation of material, along with the recording of requests for changes to the software, including ideas and suggestions. |

Assistance with software testing and feedback for on-going product development. |
 |
Update of the HELP file and other documentation with new or changed features and functions. |
 |
Assistance with content preparation for a monthly newsletter. |
 |
Participation in training activities for schools as well as direct support to schools where needed. |
 |
Creation of documentation and other support tools where required. |
About you...
The successful applicant must have an enthusiastic and positive nature, a caring attitude towards people who need assistance and an ability to explain software applications in easy to understand terms. Computer literacy is very important, as is the ability to work productively. Our customers need to be treated with respect, listened to and not bounced around. This means asking the right questions and asking the questions right, as well as provide clear and accurate instructions.
Experience and understanding of school financials is highly desirable. This includes: school fee billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions along with general ledger.
Overall you will also need to communicate clearly and effectively, have good organisation and time management skills, and enjoy working as part of a team while still accepting responsibility for your own tasks. These attributes must be able to be shown in a previous position(s) along with verbal and written references.
