How Do I?
How do I refer a subject in a block to more than one item in Blocking grids?
You may need to refer a subject in a block to more than one item in your Blocking grids when a line from more than one year level contributes to a single block, usually for the purpose of running composite classes.
To do this:
Go to MAINTENANCE>BLOCKS
Click on the BLOCK NAME in the tree view (the left pane). The details of the block should now be visible.
Make sure you are in EDIT MODE
Click on the ADD button in the top-right corner of the screen
Locate the subject that needs to refer to the extra items in the Blocking grids
Check the box next to the subject and click OK
Complete the block by adding the TEACHER and the ROOM. You will create a clash by doing this but do not be concerned.
Click on the context button that appears at the end of the GRID ITEM field for the new subject
Open the other year level that this subject comes from.
Click on the equivalent subject in this grid, as you would have done with the first occurrence of this subject
If the subject comes from more than two year level Blocking grids you will need to repeat this last step
You now have the subject repeated in the block, with one occurrence pointing to the appropriate grid item in one year level, and the other pointing to the subject in the other year level. Now students in both year levels will have the subject displayed on their timetables.
