  First Class Developer Kit

Exciting news! The First Class Developer Kit will soon work with File Maker Pro. This will enable users of FileMaker to gain access to all of the First Class data. This can be used to import live up-to-the-minute First Class data directly into your FileMaker pro applications without the need to export it from First Class. It can be used to create reports, Windows applications and web pages. The Developer Kit also works with Visual Basic, Excel, Word, Microsoft Access, Delphi, C++, ASP, Microsoft.net (Visual Basic, C#, C++ and ASP). ASP is free with Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro, great for anyone wanting to write web pages using the First Class data.

  Did You Know?

When dragging a double period on a timetable, the display of clashes has caused some confusion.

If a double period is being dragged to a different slot on the timetable the situation may arise where there are no clashes shown for the first half of the double but it appears that there are clashes for the second half. This gives the impression that moving the double to this new slot will result in clashes but in fact this is not the case.

The display of clashes shows the clashes that will occur if the double starts in a particular slot, not the clashes that will occur if the double continues through a particular slot. Therefore, even though you are moving a double period, the only slot that you need to check for clashes is the slot where the double period will begin.

In the example below no clashes will be created if the class is moved to Day 3, Period 4. The clash shown for Day 3, Period 5, can be ignored as the double period is not starting in this slot, it is simply continuing for this slot.

Were you taken in by any April Fool’s Day hoaxes this year? If you were chances are you weren’t alone!

There has long been debate about the origin of April Fool’s Day, and the April Fool’s Day section of the Museum of Hoaxes website outlines a few of the most common theories.

Of course the list of Top 100 April Fool’s Day hoaxes of all time is one of the best things about the site. You may have heard of some of the more famous ones, such as the Swiss Spaghetti Harvest and the UFO that landed just outside London in 1989, but some of the others are just as good.

A few of the hoaxes on the list are so outrageous that you wonder how anyone believed them in the first place, but others walk a finer line and may have been harder to pick at the time. To see this for yourself, why not do the April Fool’s Day Quiz? The Quiz consists of a list of news stories and asks you to pick which ones you think are genuine and which are hoaxes. Try it for yourself, the results may surprise you...
