  Did You Know?

Why the left pane of the Extras screen shows periods where teachers have no classes, and how to suppress this part of the display?

When a teacher is marked absent, First Class checks all periods to see which ones will need to be covered. The teacher will also be removed from Extras for the day they are absent because they will be unavailable to cover any extra classes on this day.

The left pane of the Extras screen will display all periods for the day the teacher is absent, including those for which they have no classes. This is so that they are not made available for Extras during periods when they would normally have no class.

If you do not wish to view periods for which the teacher has no class simply check the HIDE NO CLASS checkbox. However, if you need to undo this teacher’s absent status you must uncheck the HIDE NO CLASS checkbox so that the teacher is made available for all periods. If you don’t they will only be made available for periods in which they had classes, i.e. the ones that were displayed in Extras when you changed their status.

Even though the weather is getting cooler and we are all spending less time outside it is still important to be "sun smart". Have you ever ventured out without sunscreen on an overcast day and been sunburnt?

The Sun Smart catchphrase was developed by The Cancer Council Victoria in 1988 and has become part of our everyday vocabulary. Radio, print and television advertising remind us of how important it is to be aware of the damage that UV rays can do to our skin, even in winter!

The website provides information about sunburn & skin cancer, sun protection, skin cancer treatment and research & statistics. There are also printable Fact Sheets on topics ranging from Solariums to Sunscreen.

The site also provides a Schools & Childcare section that has useful information and topics for discussion for both Primary and Secondary school students.
