A new welcome screen for First Class. |
The welcome screen provides "one-button" access to frequently used First Class functions. This screen interacts with the First Class security settings allowing access to buttons as defined in usernames.

Staff can now print photo class and form lists from First Class and First Class Web. |
First Class and First Class Web can print photo class lists. Users of First Class can point to a directory of student photos for inclusion in form and class list reports. The photos need to be named according to the student id code used in First Class. Users of First Class Web can import student photos into the SQL database. These photos are then available in both First Class and Web for use in form and class lists. A+ users will now see student photos when marking rolls using First Class Web.
 |
First Class users can now email and SMS staff, students and parents. |
A new "Custom Group" feature enables customised lists of staff and students to be created. Student, staff and parent email and SMS contact details can also be imported into the First Class database. Users can email contacts in the custom groups or via other selections filters. For example, the daily organiser can now simply email the list of extras to all staff, or to absent staff with a few mouse clicks. Or a year level coordinator can very easily email or SMS all teachers of a particular student. All the students taught by a particular teacher can also be easily emailed or contacted by SMS.
 |
House can now be used to sort and print timetables and filter A+ reports. |
The House field has been incorporated into the enrol students screen as well as several A+ attendance reports. In addition, student timetables can also be sorted and printed according to house, form or year level.
 |
First Class now includes automatic version checking. |
First Class will now check the web for updates and offer to download the latest version for users. The download function is still password protected so that schools can control who downloads the software and when.
Human Edge has a number of ex-demo Acer n30 PDAs for sale at $300 (ex. GST) each. These work very well with the A+ attendance program in sync mode. Contact Theo at: theo@humanedge.biz for more information.
Responses to the First Class online survey have proven very useful to our developers. We are currently investigating the integration of timetable and calendar events into packages like Microsoft Outlook or a web browser. This would allow staff to log on to Outlook or the web and view (for instance): daily, weekly and monthly timetables; a calendar view of daily extras assigned to staff; a calendar view of school events such as meetings and other school functions. We would appreciate your feedback regarding these features and your preferences for the display of timetable information in calendar packages. Bar Codes are a quick way of entering student subject choices |
Students and subjects have been assigned an individual bar code. Schools can customise student subject selection sheets which can, via a bar code reader, be quickly entered for future timetables. This proves to be a fast way of entering information.
 |
End of Year Rollover |
A current copy of First Class is saved, and renamed 2007. In preparation of the 2007 timetable, students can be rolled over from one year level to the next. Students in Form 7A can be promoted to 8A where less frequent student changes (one student to 8B) can be made. The End of Year Rollover also allows for quick deletion of timetables, blocking grids, student subject selection and extras. You have the option to build new timetables from scratch.
 |
Combine Subjects |
In preparation for end of semester two reporting, First Class allows subjects to be combined and renamed. For example, Matha and Mathb renamed to Math7. Allocation information is NOT AFFECTED in any way. This simply renames subject which may prove useful when exporting to the schools assessment and reporting package.
We have highly qualified support analysts able to assist you in your SQL Server setup and database management.
For instance, if you have any problems setting up your database for A+ and/or First Class Web, you can call our support line on 1300 301 931 and ask for Max.
