How do I prepare combined year levels in First Class 6 before importing them into First Class?
If you have combined year levels in First Class 6, you may have to "trick" First Class into believing that the two form groups are in the one year level in order to make a successful import. In order to do this you must first ensure that all of your data is in one First Class 6 database.
In explaining how to import your combined year levels we will assume that when setting up your database in First Class 6 you combined forms in Years 11 and 12 and named the combined year level "VC". We will use this combined year level as our example.
The first step in setting up for the import is to rename some files in First Class 6.
Open WINDOWS EXPLORER
Locate the folder that contains the database that you use to work on year level VC. It will usually be located in the c:\1stclass subdirectory.
Within this folder there will be several files with the extension .vc1
You now need to change the file extension so that First Class 6 thinks that it is dealing with a legitimate numerical year level.
Right click on one of the files with the extension .vc1 and select RENAME from the drop down menu
Overtype the extension vc1 with 111
Repeat this process for all files with the extension .vc1
You now need to move the Year 12 Forms in First Class 6 into Year 11 (temporarily) in preparation for the import into First Class.
Open First Class 6
Go to EDIT & PRINT>EDIT>FORMS>DETAILS
Type C in the ACTION field
With the cursor in the FORM field, press F9 and select one of the Year 12 Forms in year level VC
Press ENTER until you are in the YEAR field
Replace 12 with 11
Repeat for all other Forms in the Year 12 Form Group
SAVE your changes
Once this process has been completed for all combined year levels, the database is ready for import. We recommend that you use the First Class Help menu to guide you through this process.
Once you have imported your database you will need to add any year levels that are missing (in this case the combined VC year level) and move all the forms in incorrect year levels back to their correct year levels (in this case Year 12 forms in Year 11 will need to be moved to Year 12).

It has been brought to our attention that the Release Notes included with the latest release of First Class had not been updated. The changes made in release 245 were very minor and we have included a link to the updated Release Notes below for your reference:
