Of course our software downloads, tips & tricks, and knowledge base are all still present. The new address is;

www.humanedge.biz

Please remember to update any bookmarks or favourite links you may have made in your web browser. Our support email addresses have also changed in recent times. The new address for First Class is listed at the bottom of this newsletter

  How Do I?

How do I ensure that no extra classes are placed on fixed lines when generating a blocking grid?

Fixing subjects on the blocking grid prior to automatic generation only ensures that those subjects will not be moved. In order to make sure no further classes are added to a line, simply add occurrences of a dummy subject, or add further occurrences of a subject already on that line. These extra subjects can be deleted later.

How do I print the students that chose a subject prior to developing a blocking grid?

If you need to obtain a list of students that chose a subject...

From the REPORTS menu, select CONFLICT MATRIX
Select a year level, then select SELECT ALL
Click PREVIEW

A conflict matrix will now appear:

Double click on a cell with a number in it (also know as "drilling down") to display the students who chose both the subject heading the column and the subject heading the row of the selected cell.

If you drill down on a cell on the diagonal (conflicting a subject with itself), the students who chose that subject will be displayed.

There are 2 options for printing the list:

To print directly from First Class click on the PREVIEW button in the toolbar and select PRINT
To print from Excel select VIEW IN EXCEL from the right mouse context sensitive menu. Go to FILE>PRINT to print the list.

  Website of the Week

www.citysearch.com.au

The City Search website provides information about major cities and areas within Australia.

If you are planning a holiday City Search can be a good place to start. You can select the city/area that you are interested in from the City Search home page. The pages for capital cities all feature a Holiday Guide that is a great place to start and provides information about things to do and see, accommodation, transport and emergency services contact details.

The site even has an online booking service for restaurants and accommodation. All you need to do is click on your restaurant/hotel of choice and you will be taken to their website where you can make your booking. This feature makes the site a really great “one stop shop” when planning your trip.

You can also use City Search to access information about your local area. The pages for many cities list Community Events that include classes & courses, talks & lectures, kids events, fairs & fetes.
