How do I display available teachers for a particular class without using the period filter?
After setting up all your absences in Extras, the usual methods of filtering by period are using the period filter at the top of the right pane, or right-clicking on an appropriate class to be covered and selecting to filter by period. Both of these methods confine the display in the left pane to classes for that period only.
In some cases you may not know which period a class that you need to cover belongs to. A quick way of discovering this, and also displaying a list of available teachers is to:
Make sure you have all classes for all periods showing
Tick the HIDE NO CLASS tick box to reduce the display
In the left pane click on the class you wish to display available teachers for
The available teachers display in the right pane will jump to that period
Note: It is not a good idea to try to cover say, a period three extra if the period one available teachers are displayed as there is no certainty that the teacher is also available for that period. If the teacher is not available for the other period a dialogue box asking whether you wish to allow the extra will appear.
You can now configure First Class more to your liking. The new features in release 282 of First Class allow you to. . .
Set the Last 10 in extras to whatever number of days' history you want to display
Set your own block prefix
Show the count of clashes when editing a timetable, eg, TC-2, instead of TC+
Look out for more great new options in upcoming releases.
