Have you ever been downloading a file from the internet, only to have it fail after 95% completion? A number of schools have recently reported drop outs while downloading files, including updates of First Class 2000, SAS2000 & Pay2K from our website. While there are numerous causes for this (which we won't try to cover here) there are ways to improve your chances of successfully downloading files.
When you rely solely on your Internet Browser to download, drop outs can be very frustrating, as you need to start your download all over again. With big files and slow internet connections this can mean valuable time lost. One utility you may wish to try is Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) which can not only resume interrupted downloads, but also minimises download time by using multiple connections to the download site making better use of your available bandwidth. Once installed DAP sits on your task bar (and also as a toolbar on your Internet Browser) and monitors all downloads. If the website allows, DAP it will take over the download duties and you'll get a faster more reliable download, with less stress!
Like many utilities on the web, DAP comes in a basic free version, although you will be subjected to advertising banners (a small price to pay for the benefit). The software also tracks information regarding your usage of the program so read the 'Terms and Conditions of Use' that appear during installation carefully before proceeding. If you prefer not to receive advertising material you can purchase the premium version online, which removes advertising banners and provides a few extra features.

How do I work out for an employee how possible change they are making to their pay will affect their tax and the amount they are paid?
An employee may be thinking of changing the amount they salary sacrifice, or be querying how a pay rise will affect the amount they receive each pay period.
The Ready Reckoner in Pay2k lets you work out the impact that these kinds of changes will have on an employee's pay.

Tax Scale
Pay Period
No of Periods the amount is being paid over
Gross Wage amount
If a HECS debit applies
If No Tax File number is held
Any deductions before tax
Salary Sacrifice Amount

Once this information has been entered, the area headed PAYE Tax Calculations will automatically display:
Taxable Income
Tax on Taxable Income
Family Tax Benefit
Weekly Levy Adjustment
HECS Deduction
PAYE Tax Amount
Net Pay

Alternatively, you can work back from a specified Net Pay value to get the Ready Reckoner to calculate the required Gross Wage Amount.

Enter appropriate values as above (excluding Gross wage)

This will open up a form requesting the VALUE OF THE NET PAY for the periods specified

Key in the NET AMOUNT of the Pay and the Ready Reckoner will work out the GROSS AMOUNT of pay the employee would need to earn to receive the specified net amount
