SAS2000 Overview

The following minimum hardware configurations are recommended for the optimal run of the SAS2000 software. Computers with higher specifications (for example, faster processors or more Mb of RAM) will provide better performance.

As a general guide, computer equipment purchased new within the last two years should be capable of running the latest version of the software.

 


Machines used by staff who administer/setup the software require
Operating system

Windows XP Pro or Vista

Processor Intel Pentium 4 processor 500MHz or faster
Memory 512 Mb RAM
Disk space 500 Mb available disk space in addition to what is required for the operating system and other programs on the workstation
Display Video Adapter with 32 Mb RAM capable of 800 x 600 resolution or higher
Applications .NET 3.5 Framework with Service Pack One (SP1)

Operating system

Microsoft Windows 2003 server

Processor Intel Pentium 4 processor 1.2 GHz or faster
Memory 2 Gb RAM
Disk space 120 Gb hard disk drive
Drive CD-ROM drive
Applications SQL Server or SQL Server Express

Operating system

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard, Enterprise or Web Edition setup as an Application Server

Processor 2.5 GHz processor
Memory 2 Gb RAM recommended
Disk space 80 Gb hard disk drive
Security SSL Certificate if accessing Reporter Pro across the Internet
Other Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 enabled

Laser printers with A4 single sheet feed capability are recommended.

Web access
• PC - Internet Explorer 6.0
• Mac - Safari 3 or Firefox 3

Software updates and documentation
• Internet connection to download updates from the Human Edge website
• E-mail address to receive notifications of the software releases and documentation

Internet support requirements
• Internet connectivity to allow remote access via Network Streaming
• The SQL Server should have SQL Client Tools installed

Backup
• A backup system, preferably an SQL aware backup system is recommended
• If an SQL aware backup system is not possible, you can set the SQL server to back itself up and then schedule your backup system to include the SQL backup file in its backup.
